How come the leaves are staying close to them stem? I tried to google it but can’t find anything. The ones at the bottom have kind of trailed off a bit(different environment before I got it)but all of the newer ones are staying very close to the stem

    Usually if the light is lower, you will get extended petiole and internodes. Commonly called 'leggy' or Etiolation. Higher light shorter petiole and closer internodes.

    The front of the leaves are going to face the light source. You can let the vine dangle or run horizontally and the leaves will stand perpendicular to the vines. The starter plants are not typically on a support pole or stick and the oldest leaves reflect the growth pattern away from the vine.
