Has anyone seen anything like this before🤯!? I was repotting my pothos for the first time (it was gifted to me) and I saw this plastic thing inside the roots. When I touched it I found out it goes all the way around and its pretty big but I can’t take it out without cutting off the roots☹️😭. Is it ok to keep it inside?
I'd cut the roots and try to wiggle it out. It may be a small pot or a riser
4 likes But if I cut the roots wouldn’t the leaves or plant die off? It just started sprouting new leaves and shoots😭
Pothos are also pretty resilient I think even with a bit of root trim she should be perfectly fine

no it should kill the plant magbe shock a bit but i would cut it out and water prop a bit i eouldnt keep it in tho

It’s better to find one of these than to find a mesh bag of death. This riser helps drain excess water. The mesh bags help to increase a grower’s profit margin with no starter pots and more starter plants per foot when using the bags. Plus, mesh bags strangle the plants in their prime when you’re emotionally attached and compelled to buy a replacement plant. 😠 That’s why I do an autopsy on all my sudden death plants. 😆 I’ve found 5 of those mesh bags on sickly alocasias.

My Aglaonema repot was also a discovery of two of those plastic baskets encasing the roots 🙄 though the roots were a bit looser I still ended up with a few being trimmed 😅

My sister calls the plastic basket thingies "sleeves of death!" She cuts them out every time.

You should be able to shake off the soil as much as possible to repot. That’s a support bracket for plants. Loosen the soil and wet the roots you should be able to cut the bracket once you can see it clearly
