As I’m educating myself more on plant care, I’m finding I’ve made some DRASTIC mistakes in the past. I repotted a pothos and birkin back in April using a moisture control soil (no clue what I was doing). They’re not thriving but not dying either. Their leaves are dry and crispy but still sprouting new leaves occasionally. Should I repot now with a better well draining soil or wait until spring? I do have a fungus gnat problem but as long as I don’t over water I can keep it under control. Thanks for your thoughts!

    I would go ahead and change the soil. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think the only reason you get told to repot in the spring is because the plant will "recover" and settle in a little faster and a bigger pot makes room for more growth. I usually wait till spring to repot but lately I've been changing the soil in some of my plants cuz I hadn't put them in decent soil either😏

    I'd repot now into the same pot or a similar sized pot. The big thing about waiting until spring to repot is when you size up the pot, the plant will focus on growing roots to fill the larger pot. That's not an ideal situation for the colder months, when plants aren't growing at optimal rates and can lead to issues with overwatering or just not getting a good winter's rest
