i'm facing a pretty distressing situation in which my pothos plant, something ive had for nearly 10 years, is continually losing leaves it had always been potted & on the ground until recently when i strung it up on the wall. when doing so, some of the vines pulled away from the moss pole but they all remained strong & green so i wasnt too concerned since then, over 20 leaves have curled over & died👨‍🌾 i removed the pothos from the wall & even still leaves are dying, see the pictures for a full portrayal of its demise... any soothing suggestions in my cry for help? im wondering if its an issue with my soil type? i repotted the plant the same day i first put it up on the wall a very proud plant parent, feeling at a loss

    This happens with indoor plants eventually, not sure why bcz it could be overwatering, underwatering, not enough light and wrong soil or no fertilizer. So cut away all the vines with no leaves even the ones with leaves on the ends. Propagate all of it if you want. But indoor plants get old faster than outdoor plants in the ground so don't stress its ok just kinda start over.

    When was the last time you repotted prior to this situation? What size pot was it in before or did you just give it new soil? What kind of soil were you using and what did you switch to or did it remain the same? Seems like maybe some sort of issue with the soil/pot, if everything else remained the same. I would pull it out of the pot to get a look at the roots and go from there for the 'main' plant. Then chop all those empty vines up and try to propagate them in water, maybe grab some rooting powder to help them out since there's no leaves

      it had been over two years since i repot it previous & it had been doing so well up until recently, all i did was refresh the soil so no change in pot size but the roots werent bound at the time. i use the houseplant focus repotting soil which i believe is pretty common/popular? propogating sounds fun & has also been recommended by others so i'll have a crack at that for sure!

    Oh I’m sorry! I have eventually lost every pothos plant I have had that I have tried to climb up the wall. They always start off doing really good but then start getting super leggy. I would suggest chopping it back up to your pot to encourage it to regrow. I would propagate for smaller babies.. good luck

      sweet, okay! thanks for letting me know, i did think that would be the next step! shame to lose a beauty but least its a struggle with old age only

    It may be root bound. It could be watering issues like under watering. It could be light and fertilizer or just relocating it can cause leaves drop. Refresh the soil. I would cut back heavily to the rim and let it regrow full, as recommended. Propagate the rest and pass on or sell/trade the cuttings. 🪴🍀

    Agree with all the advice here but wanted to add that I think it’s a Golden Pothos and not an Njoy. Not that it really matters for care, but if you’re going to sell cuttings you’ll want to make sure on what type it is

    thanks to you all for providing your thoughts on my situ !! 🌿🌻🧚‍♂️super super cool. its the first time i've posted here so it really is awesome to learn from others in this way. thankfully this is the only major plant issue i have faced in my parenthood so far, other than a brush cherry 'bonsai' that i refuse to talk about...
