New to houseplants and plants in general but got gifted this by my barber for me and my girlfriend to look after. Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated. I believe it’s a neon pothos :)

Nice cutting you have there! Pothos is an easy first plant to love as it is extremely beginner friendly, resilient, and fast growing. Fun fact: It is incredibly rare for a pothos to fruit or flower as it is so good at vining and spreading through natural growth. All you need to do now is let your pothos grow roots. Once my “roots grow roots” or I begin to see significant growth in the roots, I plant my cuttings into a well draining potting mix. For me this means a blend that’s maximum 50% soil with amendments of materials like orchid bark, perlite, or coconut chunks. For a pot, I would go extremely well drainjng an aerated as well. Something like a terracotta pot or the plastic pots with side holes made for orchids. I water whenever the soil is dry to my first knuckle by both pouring from the top of the soil (top watering) and letting my pot sit in a shallow dish of water (bottom watering). When transitioning to soil from propagation, don’t let the soil dry out too much at first. It can shock the plant that is used to being in water. My final tip is one I think even some advanced plant parents could learn: Use a chopstick or similar tool to aerate your soil. After watering, I go through and poke holes in my soil like one would a punch hole cake before adding syrup to it. This both lets the soil dry faster and allows oxygen to reach the roots, both of which fight root rot. Best of luck with your new plant!
6 gillningarThanks for the great information! I’ll be sure to follow these steps hopefully have something to pot in a couple of weeks or so I’m guessing?
1 gillaYou could easily have plants to pot within that time! The next question you’ll have is if you want to train your pothos to climb or hang. I’ve done both, but personally prefer the way leaves grow when you promote upward growth.
2 gillningarHow do you go about training them to climb?
1 gillaI’ve done it a few ways. You can either use dowels, a tomato stake, a moss pole, or even just a wooden plank. You then secure it to a pole. I would look up videos on it. Moss poles are very popular, but I prefer planks
2 gillningarOkay I’ll do that when it come closer to the time, thank you for your help :)
