Yall what am I doing wrong with water propagation? All 3 of these cuttings have nodes and have been in water for well over a month now. I change the water weekly. I even bought prop drops and diluted them correctly and no root growth. /:
From my experience you are supposed to cut right under the node so that the node is the very tip of the plant in the water. Once I mistakenly cut above rather than below and they never rooted.

And here’s one that has rooted and is about ready to be potted.
You can see in both photos how it’s trimmed immediately below the node.

I would increase light/warmth. I never change the water on my props, just top off. I believe the cutting on the very left doesn’t have a node so it will not continue to grow roots. I also personally get more success by chopping each leaf/node section as its own cutting rather than a small portion of a vine. Unless it’s the top cutting

I don’t recommend cutting too close to a node to prevent mistakenly impacting root nodes. Parts of the vine dies back from the cut section. This could kill off the root nodes. It’s better to leave stem around both sides of a node. Your vines are supplying energy to several leaves and none to growing roots. You can put the cuttings deeper in water to get more nodes under water or cut up the vines to leave one leaf per node as Tanya suggested. My Philodendron Rio cuttings are shown. One node per leaf with sufficient stem around the node. They all rooted. 🪴🍀
Don't change the water that frequently. To allow the natural rooting hormones to accumulate

I’m glad I read this. I have several I’m propping as well and I guess I didn’t realize it would take this long.
いいね 1件I’ve also been told by my local greenhouses that if you let the cuttings dry for a couple hours or even overnight so the cut part callous over the node becomes the point that takes on the water and it’ll root faster 🤷♀️

I don't change my pothos prop water, i just add to it when it gets low. Make sure it's in a window, with bright sun. I did this with my snake plant as well, and i couldn't believe how fast i got roots.

This is mine in a West facing window under grow lights. As you can see its doing well enough to push up another leaf. I change the water once I notice it getting cloudy/ugly. This has been in water for about a month or so. I used no prop drops or anything. Also use sink water lol. But maybe just give it some time. Keep it under a grow-light and forget about it for bit. Happy propagating !
