A story about a leaf without a node that wasn’t gonna die and instead rooted like a boss from the SPLIT of its petiole and produced pups(?) 10mo later. Today, mama upgraded from a propagation tube to a pot. Fingers crossed she loves soil. 🥹 I have watched this astonishing single leaf persevere and give no Fs for nearly a year and didn’t think there would ever be any new growth. I added fluval stratum a few months ago and unbelievably the new leaves quickly crowded the glass! I am optimistic it’ll be a success! Cross your fingers with me! 🤞 The back story on the leaf: it began as a normal propagation with a vine and node that failed and rotted. I kept cutting it back and sterilizing hoping it would still be able to root. Eventually I had to carve around the node and it ultimately ended up coming off, leaving this leaf with a mutilated petiole as close to the node that once remained. I fully expected it to die, but I usually hang on until it’s gone gone. Somehow, despite the node no longer being there, the leaf actually grew roots. The first root came out from the split of the petiole that no longer had a vine or node attached. It seemed unreal and still has me shocked today. The leaf has slowly yellowed and cracked, but has not died. The pups were a super surprise. I never thought this little leaf who could would ever get a pot with soil. I should have tried sooner. 💕
