Question.. When it comes to transplanting my main plant into a bigger pot probably in the spring.. do I need to trim the roots at all because she has such a big root ball now..

Plant Newbie👋 I don’t mess with a root ball unless it has rot. If you are sizing up the pot it should be fine to leave alone. If you are keeping the same pot size and refreshing the soil then cutting back some of the roots is usually fine.

Some plants like being root bound is what I think the other person means, so maybe research the specific plant to see if it likes that. I only size up about 2-4 inches at a time. 🪴

Its a golden pothos is what I have. I have fishing line that I have hooked on to some nails onnthe too and bottom and so I wrap it around the line and just weave the rest in

A good rule to know if its ready to go up a size is if it has 50% (or more) roots to soil ratio. Pothos can handle being quite root bound. If the roots look healthy I don’t touch them at all, if there’s issues then I’ll trim that back. For my pothos, I’ll usually wait till it starts to put out smaller leaves, lack of new leaves, base leaves start to yellow, or can’t hold moisture well before I upsize.

I've had to increase the water intake lately on it too but wow she is putting off some big leaves lately more towards the top where its climbing
