Has anyone used the self watering pots that have the cotton wicks in them. And are the cotton wicks alright for plants too.. I've seen these on Walmart.com and just wonder if anyone had issues using them with their plants and if those cotton wicks are ok with plants or not.
Wicks are not an issue. Overwatering can be if you keep water in the reservoir full time causing rot. Pothos plants like the soil to dry between waterings.
1 likeSo then that wouldn't be a good idea. I'm just trying to avoid my hubby taking care of it while I'm gone for 2 weeks on a trip and the watering schedule will happen once while I'm gone..
1 like Then, give him a measured amount of water to use and tell him the exact date to water. Two weeks is not too long for a pothos if it gets at least one drink of water when you are gone.

1 like Under watering is better than overwatering. You might get a yellow leaf while under watering. But, it’s better than root rot from overwatering. Tell him to fight the urge to add more water if he sees a yellow or drying leaf. I’ve had my husband sympathetically water my plants to death trying to “fix” it. He meant well. 😅
