Hi! I recently bought two potho plants I’ve had one for about a week and the other for a few days. When I bought the smaller one it was very lush but today I noticed the leaves starting to brown and it looks like the roots might be getting a little moldy? I don’t know what to do to help it. The second one I bought was a bit bigger but it was completely dried out when I bought it so I gave it a good water but I’m still uncertain if it’s in the right pot or if it’s getting overwatered. Please help

I’m gonna guess you got this water planter from lowe’s. I bought a Lily in the same exact bowl. I quickly learned that these plants aren’t really meant to be in 100% water. They can, but they won’t really thrive. I’ve kept mine just because it HAS survived the last two years in it. Honestly you’d be better planting it but it can survive as long as you regularly change the water and rinse/wash off algae growth

I changed the water as soon as I got which hasn’t even been a week so maybe potting it would be best?

It looks like those roots are rotting. I would pull off any roots that are soft and mushy. With hydroponic plants, it’s important to change the water every week, and also to give them liquid fertilizer about once a month.

Okay! I will have to clean the roots then and hope for the best

The self watering planters, I got 3 this year and they ALL needed a repot immediately, especially the marble queen was in way too small of a container to stay in those!

Would you just repot in water again or do you recommend putting it in soil. I did clean the roots and changed the water but it still seems to be getting worse

The ones sitting in water definitely look ready to transplant to soil! Or atleast need fertilizer at this point to survive in just water
