HELP! i got this golden pothos five days ago from my friend as a birthday gift. it was doing very well then i repotted it into a new planter (which was an 8 inch pot which i soon realized was too big so i downsized it today). the leaves are yellowing and im not sure what to do! any tips?

I would definitely let it acclimate, don’t overwater, and make sure it gets plenty of bright indirect light! My pothos love to be left alone 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s easy to want to do something for a new plant, but once you get a new plant, let it chill for a while. A new environment can shock it. Pothos can hold onto water for a while so water thoroughly when you do, but let the top of the soil get dry in between waterings. Looks like the soil could use more aeration (add bark or perlite). Since the leaves look like they need water, the roots could have rotted a bit from suffocating. No roots, no way to transport water.

the soil is cactus, palm, and citrus soil so it’s already very airy. should i keep the soil moist throughout or do you think it’s overwatered?

My gut says it’s watered too frequently (overwatered). But without looking at the roots, it’s hard to tell. I use a moisture gauge/meter and wait for the soil in my pothos to get around 40% moisture. So almost dry at the bottom of the pot.

They didn’t look bad. Hard to say what definitely caused it. What I would do is go back to smaller pot since Pothos like to have snug roots. It’ll help with the watering frequency as well. Clip off the yellowed leaves and leave it alone for a while in some decent light where it can see some blue sky from your house.
