Hey plant enthusiasts!!! I recently got a fish aquarium and I heard somewhere that pothos are great for purifying the water; my only concern is if the sap inside of the pothos cutting could harm my fish? Any thoughts?

    Go for it, I’ve had many different types of plants stuck in the top of my aquariums

    If you’re super worried I’d just let the cut fully callus over before adding it!

    Roots can do some filtration, but *some* is the key word there. You still need a filter if you're going to keep fish. Plants alone could probably handle shrimp or snails for bioload, but it takes an absurd amount of plants to overcome the waste of fish. You also wouldn't be able to use any kind of soaps, oils, fungicides, or pesticides with your pothos. As for the cuttings, you should probably root them seperately and only put healed/rooted ones in the aquarium. Be aware most fish will nibble at the plants but won't necessarily eat them. Also I'm into aquariums and can help you with the fish side of things :)
