💥 HELP!! A couple of Millie's leaves have turned yellow! 🥺 What can this be a sign of? I thought maybe they didn't get enough light. Planta said my bedroom was too dark, but I've started to leave the curtains open during the day so the gets more light. Any ideas what the yellowing is caused by? Also I saw this weird browned spot on a leaf. What could that be from? Last question, promise, should I think about repotting soon? It looks like roots are close to growing through the drainage holes 😬 THANK YOU!

    The yellowing of leaves can be an indication of a problem but It also does happen when the older leaves are dying off naturally! The brown spot doesn’t look too bad I think that just happened naturally? If it gets worse or happens to all the other leaves I’d think there’s maybe too many minerals in the water. Pothos are very sturdy plants and can be put thru a lot and still survive! I don’t think you need to repot, unless you’re worried that the plant might have root rot. Pothos like being root bound but overwatering can still happen and cause issues. If it’s not your water that’s causing issues then maybe overwatering? Especially in a place that doesn’t get much sun/warmth to dry the soil faster. I like to let mine completely dry out before giving it a good soak! It’s hard to pinpoint problems with plants but I always try one thing at a time to see what happens! Try letting it dry out before watering it again, you’re doing the right thing by trying to give it more light!

      It could be the water I'm using 🤔 I'll start using different water and see if that helps. I've only watered her once since I got her and started Planta, but maybe I did put too much. How much water should I put when watering? Is there a recommended amount to use? I know with my snake plant, Planta says to water until the water drains through the holes. Is it the same principle with all plants? Also, I think I'll wait to repot until her roots start actually growing through the drainage holes. Don't want to distress her unnecessarily. Thanks to much for your advice Makenna!!! 🙃

      If you did just get the plant, a lot of plants when you first take them home typically have a 2 weeks adjustment period where it’s taking time to adjust to its new environment! Dropping a few leaves is common and can be expected!! There’s also a misconception about overwatering, overwatering isn’t how much water you’re giving the plant! It’s actually how frequently you water the plant. I water my plants by filling a bowl of water and every other watering I use some fertilizer (especially in spring/summer! In the winter I do 1x a month with the fertilizer) and I set my plants in the bowl and leave them there for about 30-45 minutes depending on how much water the plant takes up but they’ll take up only how much they need! If you’re nervous about doing that because you’re unsure of how deep the root system is then top watering works great too! You’re absolutely right in watering until the water drains thru to the bottom. Keep using the same water you’re using and if you notice brown/yellow curling at the tips of the leaves then I’d say it’s your water! I hope this helps!
