Hello! I am new to plant life and Iâm curious as to when I should rest my plants? I have two pothos and a philodendron. I got them a little over a week ago. Should I change the soil before my next watering or wait?

When I bring a new plant home I check the bottom of the pots to see if theyâre root bound before I decide if it should repot, if the roots are coming out the bottom or starting to then yes repot but it wonât hurt it if you donât. If I want to repot I try to give it a week 1/2- 2 weeks or so to adjust to your environment, water, sunlight, especially if itâs going from outside to inside. You can repot it it anytime after that or even now if you feel confident that theyâre not going thru shock or showing visible signs of distress. I recommend watering with some fertilizer after repotting to help prevent too much shock/stress. Pothos are pretty resilient plants so donât be discouraged, with a philodendron I would recommend a orchid bark or chunky type of soil; they like that breathing room it gives. Also after repotting, putting them in indirect sunlight or under a grow light will help lessen stress too! I hope this helps good luck!
