Hi all! I bought a large Pothos from a street vendor a bit ago, and it appears to be a solid green plant and a variegated plant combined in one pot. The solid green plant seems to be doing great, but the variegated one is quite droopy and unhappy. Should I separate these two and care for them separately? Or is there something I can do to help them live together peacefully? They’re beautiful together, so I’d like to avoid splitting them if possible. Thank you in advanced!

Oi! Good question. I’ve had plants that looked gorgeous in the pot together. But one loses energetic to the other. And I think, for the good of all, that separating them is healthy. If you like the aesthetic, try finding a container/arrangement that meets that need. I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts 💞

One plant might have a faster growing root system that is getting more water and nutrients. I had twin ponytail palms in a pot. One started to wither after a couple of years as the other grew. I should have split them up. The healthy one just took over. I repotted once the second plant died. That was about 15 years ago. It’s still in the same pot. Too heavy to pick up. I just drag it around completely potbound and happy.
