I ordered some plants on Amazon and they sent me a pothos. It beautiful but not the happiest after packaging, what actions should I take first to bring this plant back to health?

    Hi Jordan- I see some mangled leaves but the color is healthy dark green and the leaves don’t seem droopy, so seemed more damaged than unhappy from the photo. Are there other reasons you think it’s unhappy? Otherwise with Pothos the good news is that they are very productive in creating new leaves so as long as it’s alive it’ll create so many new leaves that the existing mangled ones can be ignored or removed.

      Just remove the damaged leaves because this looks like a healthy pothos.. most likely it is unhappy because of the reckless transporting it just went through but overall it’s a very healthy plant and should bounce back right to it’s natural self in a short few days ☺️🙏🏾

    Packing and transport can be hard on a plant. My delivered plants will yellow and drop leaves if they are watered right before shipping. They steam inside the box in summer. They get too dry if shipped completely dry. The best thing to do is remove completely dead vines and leave the plant alone. Don’t repot for a couple of weeks unless the soil smells rotten swampy. Let it get acclimated to the new environment, humidity levels, water chemistry and new fertilizer. It will adjust its photosynthesis process and start putting out new growth. Cut off the damaged leaves when enough fully emerged leaves are out to replace the damaged ones. Give it a grow light or bright filtered light to get it back on track.

      It’s hard to find the unique selections at local nurseries. Buying online is the only option to get varied and better plants at competitive prices. You have to shop around with online sellers and check the reviews. I even ask fur photos of the actual plant being shipped if I’m uncertain. I avoid buying in summer and winter when temperatures are at their extremes. Spring and fall are the best buying periods for me in subtropical South Texas. I buy most plants come from Florida or Southern California from trusted sellers.
