Hi guys! I need some help! I’ve owned this golden pothos for not quite long as you guys saw in my first ever post. It’s been thriving since I’ve gotten it home, my room humidity stays at a stable 50% - 55% depending on the time of the day, the plant gets a grow light, and it’s been putting off new leaves like crazy. I just cleaned this plant with a neem solution every month like with every other plants I got just as a precaution and I saw that it was putting off two new leaves; however, it’s been a while and the leaves haven’t unfurl itself, and the worst case scenario, one of the leaves (still haven’t unfurled for a while now) is now turning brown/black. Back when I was looking over the plants, I noticed that a leaf had yellow, which I assumed that it’s cycle was coming to an end since it was the oldest leaf there (but now I’m not so sure anymore), and one of the leaves stem had turned black but the leave was still healthy, though I had no choice but to cut it off. I don’t know what to do, I’ve only watered this plant twice, which I let it dry completely before watering, and it has been doing so well with the grow lights so i don’t know what the problem is? Might be pests but I haven’t seen any?

And I since I saw it turning brown/black I’ve checked the soil to see if it needed to be watered and about 30% of the soil is still wet so I haven’t watered it yet in fear of root rot

I think those are aerial roots, not new leaves. In my experience with my two pothos, they grow aerial roots like this behind leaves. In nature they use them to latch to stuff to grow upwards. You’re right pothos don’t need a whole lot of water, I actually kinda neglect mine because I worry so much about other plants like alocasia that my pothos get the back burner lol but if they’re aerial roots you have no need to cut them off and actually cutting them will open the plant up to disease cause it’s like an open wound.

I don’t know why I can’t tell if that’s an aerial root or not lol… I need to see the whole plant to see what its other aerial roots look like… maybe it is a leaf lol I can’t tell. If it is a leaf I’m really not sure why this would happen. I feel like the whole time I’ve had mine maybe 1-2 leaves didn’t open and just turned brown. Never figured out why though

Nope, I’m pretty sure it’s not an Ariel root, 100% new growth. This is the whole plant

Ariel roots would look like that, but that’s a new growth bc it grew from inside the stem not just in the side
