Today I saw a neon green sign along the roadway that said “Plant Sale”. Did a U-turn and ended up with these 4 plants😊. I’ve tried to ID with Planta and Google Lens and have differing answers. I think I have them figured out-but not exactly sure of that. I am new to succulents and would appreciate ID’s of them. Here’s what I “think” they are: 1.Aptenia (mesembryanthemum) cordifolium var. AKA Sun Rose var. 2.Sedum adolphi 3.Kalanchoe thyrsiflora 4. Kalanchoe daigremontiana AKA Mother of Thousands I’ll add #4 to comments. It won’t let me post another plant. Thanks for any help and if you have any words of wisdom, I’m open to any knowledge you can share. One last thing, can these all be planted in the same container? SHOULD they be planted together in a grouping? Thanks. Beth

You have them correct. Number 3 is better known as a Paddle Plant. Mother of Thousands is very prolific. It has earned that name. You’ll find her small plants growing in nearby planters. The adolphi comes in a variety of colors. More sun brings out more color. Second pic is an orange colored adolphi.

Those are absolutely stunning! I’m currently reading about succulents. One reason I am is to figure out which ones can go together in a container and which can’t. I wish there was a chart or algorithm that if you entered a succulent, it would point you to what would go with it and then if those two go together, what you could add, etc, etc, etc😊. If I may ask, what do you plant yours in? Do you mix your own? I’ve found it a bit confusing reading about this. For simplicity, what I gather is fast draining, which to me means potting soil with amendments of perlite, sand, fine bark chips, etc..when I’ve watched videos of people planting gorgeous containers of mixed succulents, it appears they are using soil only. I see no perlite, and little chunky bits, etc. I’d like to try to get it right the first time without killing my plants or needing to repot again because I used the wrong stratum. If you could lend any insight, I sure would appreciate it.

Well thank you. I do enjoy making displays of various succulents. I usually check watering needs to decide which plants can be placed together. I try to give them enough room to grow. Unlike most succulent arrangements done by florists. I don’t like deconstructing the displays. And yes I also have noticed the online videos of the experts using more organic soil mixes. But I stick to what I’m familiar with. I use Jacks Gritty Mix. Available on Amazon but cheaper to buy directly from the company’s website. Then mix Jacks with regular potting soil depending on the plant. Echeverias, euphorbias, and aeoniums use 100% Jacks. For Gasteria, Crassula, and Haworthia I mix in about 25% regular potting mix. The mix you are using should be fine. Succulent soil diy recipes are on YouTube. Might give you a better idea of percentages to mix. I also recommend terracotta planters for beginners. They will help to avoid overwatering. I have over 100 succulents. Also have some tropicals too. But succulents are usually smaller so I can have more. Here are some pics of what I have. I’m always glad to show them off.

I don’t seem to remember seeing these🤷‍♀️. They are wonderful! Looking at them brings about a feeling of peacefulness 💚 💚 💚 I CANNOT wait until I can do something in this regard!!! Of course, they won’t be to this standard, I’m sure. Thanks for showing them. I just wrote down a list of the ones I have and I bought some more on PalmStreet the other night. Will add them to my list and compare all their “requirements” in regard to light, water, soil, etc, so that I can see what can be planted together. Thank you for the inspiration 💚 🌱🪴 🌱 🪴🌱 💚
