Hi, everyone! I’m new here and also relatively new to houseplants (unless you count the ones in my reptile enclosures). I recently ordered a pet-friendly mystery plant box out of curiosity. Three separate AIs, including Planta’s, are convinced it’s a Bird of Paradise (which is definitely not pet friendly). I checked with the vendor who has identified it as a Cast Iron Plant. I’m just concerned, as it doesn’t resemble my mature Cast Iron Plant. I am keeping it far away from my cats as a precaution. Can anyone help me positively identify this mystery baby plant so I can give it the best care? Thank you for your help!

    That looks like it’s in the philodendron family.

    looks like a juvenile castiron. juveniles often don't look quite right compared to mature individuals because they're not done developing yet. like the differences between human children and adults

    Remember they are only harmful if eaten by people or pets

      I definitely have no plans to eat it, but I can’t guarantee that a cat won’t try.
