This is what is called an air plant and the instructions it came with tell me to water it once or twice a week (so I water it every four days) upside down in a glass of water with the roots out of the water. The idea is you don’t want to get the roots wet. I have had it for several years. Planta IDs it as a “chlorophytum comosum ‘varieg…’” and the picture they show is a green and white striped spider plant in a hanging basket. The instructions they keep giving me is to mist which I have not done because if water drips down to the root section, it can rot the root, that is why it gets watered upside down in a glass of water and then dries upside down so that any water drips away from the root. Also, Planta tells me to fertilize it, again, which leaves me totally up in the air because I can’t get the root wet. Should I put fertilizer in the water and put the plant in upside down? Somebody must be familiar with how to raise these little guys. They are sure cute and I have bonded with this little one and I’m afraid I might kill it. HELP! B
