    I’ve seen similar on a couple of my erubescens hybrids and I have come to the conclusion it is just variegation.

      It almost looks like the pigment and flesh of the leaf is gone and it's just the skeleton/leaf fibers? Idk how to explain it

    If it looks like it is "skinless" and is papery/veiny, that could be a water issue. I def can't see what you are talking about in the photo, but my croton has done that when underwater. I have also seen it happen to overwatered plants, though. You know your habits and you can feel the soil though so you will def have a better idea of that

    It’s on the top or high part of the leaf. Could it have rubbed against the wall and excoriated?

    It's facing away from the wall so I don't think that is it, but I appreciate the idea
