Hi! A friend gave me her Norfolk Pine tree as she no longer had room for it. I don’t know what soil she used, but these “things” are growing in it. I’m thinking maybe it’s a some type of mushroom, but, then again, I have no idea. I don’t know if I need to do anything with or to the soil or not. Can anyone help me with this? I appreciate it!

Signs of healthy soil! Not harmful to your plant!

Mini fairy circle 😂 They’re common in houseplants and terrariums. Not harmful, but I personally pull them out because I find the spore dust to be kind of messy

I have allergies and asthma so I prefer zero fungus/mold in the house. If you want to remove it (though, like SR said, usually harmless to the plant) you can take out the top 1-2 inches of soil and refill it with new soul. Then, I'd use a fungicide (highly recommend neem oil; I use the Safer Brand spray bottle) on the topsoil every 1-2 weeks for a month. I'd also use neem oil for other pots in the room in case the spores have traveled elsewhere, and only replace the topsoil if you see growing fungus. Good luck! 😁

Thanks, Mullein and Mike! I appreciate the info! Actually, Mullein, that’s what I did. But…some new ones are already showing themselves. 😳 Mike, you may have the answer, and I appreciate the how to instructions. Thank you also for recommending neem oil. That’s good to know, as I know very little about choosing a fungicide. 😊
