Just got this baby plant from Lowe’s. The only identification from the tag was “tiny plant.” The closest option I got was a teardrop peperomia. Is this true?

    It definitely looks to be a peperomia orba/teardrop peperomia. It looks to be one of a lighter green color, similar to peperomia orba “pixie lime” (which there is an ID for on Planta), but without the variegated streaks of a pixie lime cultivar. If you’re looking for any tips for them, they hate getting their leaves wet, so bottom-watering them is best, and don’t fool with their roots when repotting them. Cover any exposed roots with Bonide’s Rooting Hormone Powder if you ever have to repot them, cause this type of peperomia is very prone to shock from a repotting. Peperomias do great in cactus and epiphytic soil mixes, so I keep all of mine in Espoma’s Organic Cactus and Succulent mix. I’d avoid any Miracle Grow brand soils for this plant; even their cactus mix. Hope this helps! 😊

    I have a couple pixie limes. They were identified as such when I bought and yours looks like them. From experience, they do seem to be fussy little plants.

    I can’t help identifying but tiny plant is one of the funniest/dummest generic name I’ve heard stores give a plant

      I know right? They had a whole tray of different types of plants just named tiny plant…
