Hi! What to do with mint plants during winter? Also roots are popping out the bottom should I repot or wait for spring?

    I have always had my mint plants outside, planted in the dirt. During winter, they die back,🥲. When spring comes, they re-emerge and grow bigger and better than the previous year. I hope this helps…🤗💚🪴

      lol I dont recommend planting mint in the ground unless you plan on it outliving you and your future generations, possibly taking over your house 🤣

      I just had to laugh when I read your comment, you are so so right! I’ve had to pull a bunch of starts from an inground mint plant, so I’ve learned my lesson the hard way. I do leave my mints outside during the winter, but now I put them in a pot. I should have mentioned it in my post. I sure wouldn’t want someone else having to pick all those new mint babies!     Mine are in pots on the porch. I will say I have lost some of the smaller pots when it got below freezing at weeks at a time. You can put them in a garage or use a pot insulator. Or just bring them inside to a darker cold area of the house.
