What kind of tree is this? In Eastern US, I think it’s “Eastern red cedar” but want to ask around so I know for sure. Found it in a corner of the yard, transplanted it and gave it more water, now it’s getting a green color towards the bottom so it might’ve been dry.

    It looks like an Eastern Red/common juniper. It’s doable but also takes lot of patience. They take a long time to rehabilitate.

      Thank you, will it gain its natural color again over time or will it need to trim the dry branches?

      Both but maybe in the following season will you see better results with the foliage. Try not to prune back too much just the obvious crispy ones,

      So I had to circle back around to this. I was trying to answer you earlier while grooming my dog. After that I was encouraged by your post to go prune the winter damage off my juniper. I have a bunch to work on 😆 Anyway, I’m interested to see how it goes for you. Good luck with your tree and I’m sure in time you’ll have a nice specimen.
