Anyone know what this little guy is? And is that a root or a new leaf coming in the root picture?

    I think it’s a Calathea Orbifolia, it looks like this one I have that’s called that.

    goeppertia orbifolia (previously known as calathea orbifolia). that’s a new leaf coming from the rhizome you have circled in the second photo. treat this plant much like your new maranta, use only filtered/treated tap water if you use tap, but rain water is much preferred. high humidity will help this plant thrive and since it is small i’d suggest placing it under a cloche or in a small greenhouse to keep the humidity up
