Hello everyone, Beginner plant mom here. I can use some help with my Monstera. As you can see the leaves are growing down and look rather, well Waco. Other Monstera's I have seen look less crazy. I tried getting a moss covered stick and tied it up, but it really did not seem very happy. Is this okay? Do I have a plant with a crazy personality? What can I do to help it?

It looks like you have a Monstera Deliciosa, and while your plant doesn't have a "crazy personality," it seems like it's trying to find its natural form, which includes climbing or vining. Here are some things you can do to help it thrive: ### 1. **Support**: - Monstera Deliciosa naturally grows up trees in the wild, so it uses aerial roots to climb. The moss pole is a good idea, but your Monstera may need time to adjust to it. Make sure it's well secured, and gently guide the vines to attach them to the pole. Over time, they should latch on. ### 2. **Lighting**: - Monsteras prefer **bright, indirect sunlight**. If the leaves are drooping or stretching towards the light, it might mean it's not getting enough. Consider moving it closer to a brighter spot but not in direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. ### 3. **Watering**: - Monstera likes evenly moist but well-draining soil. Water thoroughly when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. Make sure the pot has proper drainage so that excess water doesn't sit at the bottom and cause root rot. ### 4. **Humidity**: - Monsteras love humidity. If the air is dry, consider misting the leaves regularly or placing a humidity tray nearby. A room humidifier can also be beneficial. ### 5. **Pruning and Training**: - If some leaves are yellowing (as seen in your photo), it’s normal for older leaves to die off. You can prune those yellow leaves to encourage new growth. Additionally, you can prune the leggy stems to promote a bushier appearance. ### 6. **Fertilizing**: - Feed your Monstera monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced houseplant fertilizer. Avoid fertilizing in the winter months when growth slows down. By addressing its light needs, giving it something solid to climb, and ensuring it's watered and fed properly, your Monstera should start to thrive and grow in a more upright manner. The drooping can be a sign it's adjusting, but with a bit of attention, it will start to look less "wild."
