Hey, New here, I was gifted this beautiful tree called Catalpa bignonioides aurora, Indian bean tree in memory of my baby I just lost as we called him baby bean š¼ If anyone has any suggestions or advice on how to keep the tree that would be amazing. Iām not very good at keeping plants alive and so on so anything would be helpful. Hopefully I get to watch the tree grow as my baby would š¤
Iām sorry for your loss

I am so sorry for your lossš If you intend to keep it in the pot, I would water when the soil is dry, and fertilize, making sure it gets good light and humidity! I typically fertilize every 6 months with the miracle gro sticks. The sticks are kind of frowned upon because theyāre like plant crack, but it is what it is lol they do wonders for my plants (probably bc itās plant crack lmao ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ) Another trick for fertilizer is soaking banana peels in water and watering your plants with it! Some people will also use plain coffee grounds for plants that like more acidity! Again Iām so sorry for your loss! Plants are always such a beautiful tribute! Much loveš
3 gillningar Thank you so much, at the moment itās quite cold -1 so itās it okay to be outside? Also I will be planting it in a much bigger pot in a couple of months if thatās a good idea? I will get some fertiliser for it any kind you can recommend? Sorry Iām so new to this all and I donāt want to kill the plant as it means a lot to us. Thank you x
1 gilla Donāt be sorry! We all had to start somewhere! I wouldnāt plant outdoors or repot until March/April, that way it has the proper conditions to adapt to a new environment! Any time I get a new plant I hold off on repotting indoors or out to not add more stress and the plant can adapt better! Iāll even try holding off on repotting until absolutely necessary or if I notice an issue with the plantālike the roots will be coming out of the bottom of the pot before I repot plants. I fertilize plants when I first get them, at the beginning of spring, and again mid summer. Sometimes Iāll also fertilize a very small amount mid winter to give my plants a little boost since winter in New York can be harsh! The fertilizers I use are the miracle gro sticks (people donāt recommend them because theyāre like plant crack), or Iāll soak banana peels in water and water plants with it! You can also put dried, crushed up egg shells on top of the soil. Some people water with their used plain coffee grounds for plants that prefer more acidity, just make sure to research which plants do and donāt like acidity before doing this!
