Just bought this lovely ficus elastica today, but Iām new to the plant. Can anyone tell me if itās of the āRubyā or āBelizeā variegation? Any care tips on them as well is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I havenāt heard of āBelizeā but thereās so many common names for the same plants, who can keep track? š I find that ārubyā and what I call ātinekeā are very similar when grown in lower light. But when grown in high light, ārubyā will start to show a strong pink tint on the leaves. Iām not sure if thereās any other way to tell the difference
1 gillaThanks! Good to know! I was leaning towards a Tineke as well, but the pink one here was just too cute to leave behind. I was supposed to be there looking for a turtle, but instead, Iām considering trying to get a job there to save their plants. I think adding the qualification of āI like plants and will take care of yours for youā should be good grounds for hiring, right? š

Hahaha I know the feeling! There have been so many times when Iāve wanted to help a cafe with their window plants or been tempted to apply to a store with a neglected garden department so I could overhaul their plant care š
1 gillaWell the plants sold there are for the reptile and amphibian terrariums of the pet store, so really, I think itās my civil duty to make sure no pests or bacterial infections from the plants donāt end up in the enclosures of newly purchased pets š also, the plants were all in a POOL where they were just sitting in water (Iām guessing so the employees donāt have to constantly water them, and just add water when the pool runs out) š± their soil was SOAKED and I could tell it was starting to attract bugs from the front entrance that they oh-so-cleverly placed all these plants right next to š) so really, I had to save them.
