Does anyone have any idea what kind of begonia this is? I found it years ago and have no idea what it is, but it’s dying and I want to replace it if I can’t save it. It is very fuzzy, with a very fuzzy warm brown stem of sorts and a bright green underside. The hairs are silvery if you look at the side but straight on it’s hard to pick out the colors. Wide, broad leaves that are flat, like a lily pad

It took a sudden and lightening fast turn seemingly overnight and all but one stem was gone. It has a new bud under the soil but I’m concerned it won’t emerge now. Any thoughts

Unfortunately not with Begonias. My first Rex is barely doing ok😅

Ok so what kind of water are you using? I’ve been doing some reading and begonias are highly sensitive to lime and most tap water has some level in it… rain water, distilled or filtered with a lime remover is suggested… could be this is the issue? I’m going to dry mine out and try changing the water up… (Starts planning how to convince the fella we need a rain collector)

Before I learned that, I was giving him tap, and he survived well for over 2.5 yrs. I switched everyone to distilled (instead of just my fancy few) like 3 months ago. This guy literally was with me one day and the next, gone. The stems went rock hard (not able to take up any water) the leaves browned and crisped and crumbled. I dug him out and repotted in fresh soil in case it was a pest, that’s how I saw the buds under the soil. Just scared it’s so dead, I’ll lose all of it. TBH, even the one standing has a firm stem
