Does anyone know what kind of cactus this is? I got it at Trader Joe’s as a gift and the tag just says cactus. I want it to thrive but I’m not sure how to care for it. Thank you!

This what came up with the Planta ID. Not sure that’s accurate? Looks like a moon cactus to me I’ve just never seen one that is white.

I also thought it was a moon cactus but the main part didn’t seem right to me. Thank you for your help!

It’s a grafted cactus. Not sure exactly what kind, but you’ll be able to look up their care on google using that name. I haven’t had one myself though, so I don’t have specific tips for you

You found a beautiful -Blossfeldia Liliputana, grafted on a dragon fruit stalk. I have a bit more info to share but I must get back on the road. I will revisit this in a couple hours 💚

This particular cactus can be very sensitive and prone to rot so be sure the soil is all the way dry before watering. It would do well repotted in a substrate with lots of inorganic grit. Aim for 30/70 cactus potting soil/grit in a small pot. It should be fast draining and water should never pool at the surface. If kept outside, it needs protection from the rain and harsh afternoon sun. A few hours of morning to mid-morning sun is fine. Indoors, east window (with grow lights if needed). South and west windows are great but no matter where you put it, a few hours of direct sun and good air circulation is key. It is especially important to pay attention to this cactus because if rot sets into the scion (the main body of the blossfeldia), it is not the type of cactus you can cut off, let callous and wait for roots. It will not root. Rot on the rootstock is salvageable depending on the severity. Hope this all makes sense.
