I got new babies and I love them all! The krohniana arrived the other day. The parasitica and the fitchii came today; parasitica has a peduncle and the fitchii was a gift from the seller! The pubicalyx arrived today too! It was early. No more for now! My starter wishlist is complete. Probably. I think. Haha

While checking for pests, I found several penduncles on my Hoya Lacunosa snow caps, including one at the end of blooming! They were dangling at the back of the pot. I rearranged the vines for the photo. 😁 Smells like bergamot oil to me. It is sun stressed yellow. I bought it as a small lightly rooted cutting with blooms and peduncles that quickly fell off. It was my first Hoya Lacunosa. Green is the normal color.

The last set of blooms on my Hoya Loyceandrewsiana opened and closed almost within 24 hours. Blooms are supposed to last 5-6 days. It’s probably the after effects of the aphids sucking the sap on the flower stems. The scent is suppose to range from sweet musk to cat pee based on online comments. This one definitely has opening notes on the cat pee spectrum! I thought the neighbor’s cat was in the yard last night!🤣 The base notes are spoiled watermelon. It’s probably from the flowers dying. Hoyas are rarely boring. 😂

Growth progress of my Hoya Glabra. This is one of my big leaf Hoyas. The newest leaf is twice as big as the first heart shaped leaf. It’s still floppy and developing a black margin.

I got this gorgeous Hoya Surigaoensis less than a month ago. it’s doing great. Highly recommended! I got this from Etsy, but, Gabriella has the starter plants on sale for $12.50! I have two large ones and can’t get more or I would order it. Both my large plants are one plant that branched out. I don’t have room for a third. 😄 It arrived with the longest vine bent to fit in the shipping box. I straightened the vine, wrapped it several times with a thin strip of notebook paper and secured it with a little butterfly clip. I found the tiniest mealybug and some sugar ants after removing the paper. War declared! I lost my lovely Hoya Krimson Queen to mealybugs after several weeks of fighting. Never again.

Some of my Hoya Mathilde rooted cuttings bloomed for the second year!😍 The scent is light and sweet. The dead orange aphids and sugar ants are unscented. 😂

The splashy new growth on my Hoya Lacunosa Royal Flush is only brought down by the orange aphids hiding under some leaves. I’m using the smallest spritz of bug spray on them. The lizard and tree frog populations are almost nonexistent since the several days of winter snow. That’s why aphids can run rampant.

This hoya was a gift I got last fall. It's is over 40 years old and as far as I know it has never bloomed. I want to repot it in better soil and put it in a clear pot so I can watch the roots. I'm just not sure the best way to do this so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is Mr Hoya Jr. I’m a nervous hoya newbie who’s taken over the family plant while my parents are on a tour-of-duty overseas. The original plant was possibly up to a century old, but my dad isn’t sure if he was given a cutting or the original in 1992. Sadly, Mr Hoya Sr died after being shipped from DC to CO in July last year (we’re pretty sure it was transportation shock, since he was soaked on one side of the box and delivered upside down) but I managed to save and propagate this little guy! He seems really happy, and has eagerly put out 4 new leaves since Nov. I don’t expect to see any flowers from him for a year or two, but will he eventually grow some more vine? He’s cute and all, I just keep thinking his new leaves are some vine growth 😆 Currently, he’s misted every other day (it’s quite dry here) and watered 1x/week; fertilized with liquid food (MiracleGro Orchid food) 2x/month after a recc from someone else in my neighborhood who was excited to see a baby hoya in my window 😅. He’s in a ceramic draining pot with rePotme’s hoys soil mix.
