I’m currently in a full Hoya craze right now 😭🌿 I honestly only see the benefit of getting them young and watching them thrive over time. I realised this when I bought my Hoya gracilis / memoria fully mature — I kind of lost a bit of interest in her growth-wise (still love her though 💚), especially since she even pushed her first bloom which actually sparked my whole obsession again ✨ Don’t get me wrong, I still really love my gracilis — no hate at all 😭 — but there’s just something addictive about growing a Hoya from scratch and watching it literally come alive leaf by leaf It’s like the satisfaction level is unreal. The leaves are just everything too — textured, cute, small, and oddly perfect 😭 They’re super easy to keep alive, but getting them to truly thrive and bloom takes patience… and honestly I love that. I can’t wait to get more. Also, for some reason I’ve realised I’m not even into variegated plants in general… shocking I know 😭 Most of them just look a bit yellow/sickly to me (no offence 🫣). I can appreciate them objectively, but they’re just not for me — except Hoyas. My Hoya cutting, Gwen, has finally produced about half an inch roots! 2 of them! Now I just gotta be patient for them to get longer and have secondary roots…about 2-3 weeks, ya think? Any suggestions are very welcome!

I just got this beautiful hindu rope for mother's day, and I was wondering if I should repot it, I know they like to be root bound, its currently in an 8 inch pot, and I know the plant size doesn't indicate the root ball, and I would check, but I don't want to disturb it to check as it is new to my collection and I don't want to stress it out. It has almost 3 feet long tendrils. Please any advice you can give me would be wonderful. Update, the soil is drying quickly, it was dry in a week

This baby has a damaged stem from hanging over the side of the pot. I guess I should have tied it to a stake. Can I save it? I thought if I cut it off above the injury, use some rooting hormone and stick it in soil?

Hey y’all! I’m new to the group but I’ve had my Hoya compacta (Curly) for about a year. Would you mind helping me with some guidance/encouragement/advice from more experienced Hoya lovers? ☺️ What’s the growth rate of your Hoyas and how long did they get before they started blooming? This is Curly (looking a little on the damp side because she just got misted). I got her almost a year ago now and she was slightly smaller but it doesn’t look like she’s grown much. I know that compactas are slow-growing but surely there would be progress by now…? Any advice/suggestions/encouragement? I have her in my office which, because of the lighting, gets enough light that it technically classifies as part-sun/part-shade. My only concern would be the temperature which, being an office in a hallway, means I have no control. I keep a personal space heater on hand just in case. (Probs need to get a thermometer to gauge actual temps.) **oh, the powder is diatomaceous earth - my precaution against fungal gnats…. The bane of my indoor gardening experience. Anyway, it’s nice to find a community of plant enthusiasts to go to for stuff like this 😊

Hello! I've been growing plants for decades now, but I've just become fascinated with Hoyas. I've had a Carnosa for years and I've propagated it many times, but it recently suffered from the Florida freeze. I cut it back and I'm thinking about trellising it (is that a word?). Is it true that the ends can't point downward because the point pointing downward will dry out? I've seen to wait for it to get long enough to wrap back around for they're end to point up. TIA

Any ideas on how to clean the leaves on my Hoya? I know I can dunk it in water but it’s just so close to the soil and I’ve had problems with fungus gnats before so I’d rather not get the top soil wet. The leaves are a weird shape so I’m not sure how to go about it. Any ideas??
