My Verticillata Silver Heart journey. I first purchased a one node VSH cutting and the plant turned out not to be very silver (but still cute and splashy). So I purchased another cutting that was much more silver, definitely became a favorite. But then a local plant expert mentioned Clone One to me which has rounder leaves, so I bought a cutting of that and it is absolutely adorable. Typically, I wouldn’t want to own three of the same plant, but in this case, I think I need to make an exception – I love them all!

This Hoya Sigillatis has once again bloomed!!….and in its best so far. No scent whatsoever though….let’s see if in the evening things may be different 👃🏼 🌼 🤞🏼

This is my New Hoya, I have been wanting to try my hand with Hoya for a while,so I’ll need all of the basics & help I can get! The card on it say it is a “Shining Sea Star”. Thanks, for any help you can give me 😘

So I know, at least I think I know, it’s a Pubicalyx. Lighter color than the Splash I have. I’m hoping it’s a Pink Silver. I know sometimes you need to wait for flowers to confirm, but what do you guys think?

So, I got 5 Hoyas from an online nursery, an australis ‘Lisa’, wayetii variegata, lacunosa ‘Sunrise’, villosa, and this publicalyx ‘Chinese Black’. There were also several cuttings. Two of the cuttings and this publicalyx had mealybugs. Not a huge amount, but enough that after treatment and quarantine for a couple of weeks they popped back up on the publicalyx and the ‘Lisa’. Seems to be treated on the cuttings tho as they are finally starting to do ok now I moved them under grow lights. Couldn’t risk it till I was sure. I sprayed the two Hoyas with isopropyl alcohol and used a cotton tip for the ones I could see, then rinsed off with a spray of water, and covered them with a light coating of diatomaceous earth (I used a glitter spray), then moved their behinds outside. I had thought they were ok and moved them out of quarantine and into the main collection; I only just spotted the mealybugs in time! My question is how long is this likely to take to deal with? The weather is finally warm enough for them to stay out overnight, thankfully, but it’s so stressful. I wanted to get some Hoyas to try them out and see if I vibed with them, and I love them! I know it takes ages for them to flower but I liked the idea of flowers inside. I want to get more!!! I’m just a little gun shy after this. I also have a slight problem with space lol. Anyway, I appreciate any help or advice you can give tia

Macrophylla Variegated… he’s really becoming one of my favorites. I even ordered an inner variegated because I like it so much! Love the big leaves 😍

Hoya Patricia. Shes in an East window and does surprisingly well there and has flowered several times. They are sticky and drippy. I’ll have to smell them tonight.

It’s a double “dunc”. I guess they take turns flowering. This is on a hoya krohniana I’ve had for about 6 years. It flowers more than any of my others.

Hoya Australis ‘Tonga’ is a big leaf (dinner plate size) hoya variety that is hard to find. I had a cutting last year that didn’t survive winter because of operator error. 😁 I’ve been on the website’s waiting list all year to get notified when they are back in stock. I ordered it again and expected another rooted cutting when I got a full size healthy plant on a trellis! The leaves are smaller and get huge as the plant matures. 😍🪴🍀

Latest end of season purchases: Hoya Crassipetiolata x Hoya 'Michele' with beautiful markings. 2 Hoya sp. Yunnan China NOID Splash. They look like Hoya Lima from the leaf sized and markings. Hoya Erythrostemma Silver has a lot of potential with its silvery green markings.
