I need to repot this Hoya which is still in its original pot I bought 2 years ago. I know I need a pot that is 2 inches larger than the current. Any advice on the type of dirt I use?

    I use my regular "go to" soil for them which is some good soil with perlite or pumice, Orchid bark, charcoal and if i have it, worm castings. 40% soil and 20% for the rest.. They seem to do great in it. It's pretty chunky.

    Thank you. Would you happen to know the name of this Hoya. I purchased it from a store that sells plants. Im certain I was told, but that was 2 years ago

    Hoya Pubicalyx grows quickly and can become heavy on a trellis. You can use a plastic pot and place it inside a heavier ceramic or cement outer pot for ballast. The outer pots need drain holes or take the inner pot out to water the plants.

    I mix my own soil with roughly 2/3 coco coir or chunks and small orchid bark. About 1/3 is a mix of perlite, pumice and worm castings. The objective is to make a chunky mix with excellent drainage and lots of air pockets. I avoid peat moss usually contained in standard potting soil which holds too much water for a hoya. See the pics. The third pic shows the soil mix in hoyas I bought online. The green bits are timed release fertilizer.

      Great soil mix. I too use cocoa coir. With the same amendments except I use cocoa bark.

    That looks like the way mine was planted originally. I will make certain to grab those things at my local plant store Thanks again. P.S. Your soil looks wonderful and perfect for plants!
