This is Mr Hoya Jr. I’m a nervous hoya newbie who’s taken over the family plant while my parents are on a tour-of-duty overseas. The original plant was possibly up to a century old, but my dad isn’t sure if he was given a cutting or the original in 1992. Sadly, Mr Hoya Sr died after being shipped from DC to CO in July last year (we’re pretty sure it was transportation shock, since he was soaked on one side of the box and delivered upside down) but I managed to save and propagate this little guy! He seems really happy, and has eagerly put out 4 new leaves since Nov. I don’t expect to see any flowers from him for a year or two, but will he eventually grow some more vine? He’s cute and all, I just keep thinking his new leaves are some vine growth 😆 Currently, he’s misted every other day (it’s quite dry here) and watered 1x/week; fertilized with liquid food (MiracleGro Orchid food) 2x/month after a recc from someone else in my neighborhood who was excited to see a baby hoya in my window 😅. He’s in a ceramic draining pot with rePotme’s hoys soil mix.
