What’s everyone’s favorite brand or mix of soil for Hoyas? I have a carnosa, and just used a mix of MiracleGro Indoor Plant, perlite and MiracleGro Orchid Bark, but I’m aure there are better soils out there…. Picture of my cutting for attention.

i don’t recommend any soil for growing hoya indoors. it’s better to get an epiphyte-specific blend that is soilless and 100% chunks, like coco chips and coarse perlite, so that there’s lots of air in the media. potting soil can suffocate epiphytes in general but especially ones with such fine roots as hoya. they are prone to rot if the substrate stays wet too long.

I like to make my own, and this mix I’m using right now is incredible. I’m even rooting with it and cuttings are rooted in two weeks or less. A quart of tree fern fiber Pint of coco chips Handful of horticulture charcoal 1 cup of pumice 1 cup volcanic rock 2 tablespoons of premium Mycorrhizal Inoculant 1 tablespoon premium neem seed meal Table spoon of systemic granules If I run out of pumice, I substitute #4 perlite

It really depends on the environment you grow in. What works for someone in Florida may not be the best for someone in New York. It also depends on indoor or outdoor, type of lighting, supplemental humidity or not etc. Hie often you water is another factor.

Semi hydro seems to be a great choice for dryer climates.
