I have a lot of Hoyas. And I love them! I have a crimson queen, and it’s very long. Some of the vines have nothing on them. They’re just the vine. Has anyone ever propagated it to see if it will grow from just vine? Has anyone taken propagations from any other Hoyas and try to propagate them? I have attached two pictures of the same plant. One has a vine with nothing on it and the other has leaves. Can I just cut the vine that doesn’t have any leaves on it?

This isn't going to be helpful but I've tried to prop hoyas and have never been successful...

I know. I actually had one break on me and I gave it a whirl and it regrew. But that just could’ve been a total fluke.

A humid box with perlite worked for me. And right now I have an indoor greenhouse box where I'm growing sphagnum moss and a few other plants, and two hoyas have reached vines to the sphagnum and grown roots. So that would be a good way to propagate. Like air layering

I’ve seen people put stem cuttings in a prop box with perlite in it them just shut them up and give them an overhead light.

So do you all cut them right around the node where the leaves come out from? And if you do cut the other plant, does it stunt it somehow? Because my sister had a lawyer and she cut it and it had the flowers on it, but when she cut it and never flowered again. She did not cut the piece that was flowering because the flowers were coming off of the other plant. She cut a stem off of the mother plant again that did not have any flowers, but it stopped producing flowers.

Mine sends out the same bare “runner” vines, they are searching for support or light and eventually grow leaves it just takes ages. I’ve never tried to prop them though so I’m not help with that part sorry!

I have used a prop box with moist sphagnum moss and perlite for cuttings with leaves on them and it worked great

I guess I’m also thinking if I cut them off because the plant is so lush, will it hurt it?

I definitely want to propagate. And I feel like a crimson queen is pretty easy.

I leave mine cause eventually these little parts grow new leaves but totally up to you. If you do cut them it might make more growth points on the uncut part of the vine start growing and make it fuller overall! I’ve never tried that though so keep us updated on how it goes if you do 😊
