Iā€™m reminding myself how lush and lovely my Hoya Curtisii was in November so I can get it back to this level in summer. Itā€™s dropping leaves like a ficus right now.

    Omg, the number of times Iā€™ve had to save my Mathilde for reasons unknown to me. Iā€™ve transported him to leca and he was fineā€”loved it, even. I put him outside over the summer and he bloomed for months until I brought him inside and started dying back in November for no apparent reason. I took him out of the pot to check his roots and they were holding on for dear life, and I still donā€™t know what caused it. Anyways, I ended up trimming the roots off because they were on their way out already, dipped him in some rooting hormone, put him back in a smaller self-watering pot with leca and heā€™s made a full recovery with no leaf loss! Very winded story time of suggesting to try that lol

      Thank you for the advice. Mine went downhill from operator error (got too dry when I was not paying attention). My hoyas love being outside. Most slow or stop growing in winter. An ikea plant cabinet would help. I just donā€™t have room for it.

      I actually think it might have been you, Sunny, who told me to put my Matilde in rooting hormone because I remember thinking, ā€œSo genius! Why the hell didnā€™t I think of this?!ā€ And it saved him! A greenhouse cabinet definitely helps because thatā€™s where I stuck him. I get it, though, because I hardly have room for mine, either! I have the Baggebo which is relatively smallā€”Iā€™m 5ā€™0 and itā€™s shorter than me, but they also have mini greenhouses like the AkerbƤr that could possibly give you better space options or even allow you to DIY a mini greenhouse, sort of like a recovery box. Lol Iā€™m sorry, Iā€™m trying to give you different alternatives for a greenhouse of some sort even though youā€™ve probably thought of every possibility already!

      I appreciate it. Iā€™m about to move to a smaller home, losing about a 1000 sq-ft. Down sizing from a house to a condo is difficult. I even have to get rid of many outdoor plants. šŸ˜© I canā€™t add any furniture or things that sit on furniture. šŸ˜

    Oh my gosh she is so pretty!!!! Adding it to my wishlist šŸ¤£ I just got started on my Hoya journey and Iā€™ve already killed two from overwatering šŸ˜­

      Itā€™s a journey learning how low maintenance a hoya can be. Hoya Curtisii are not the most popular hoyas last season. But, they are affordable and forgiving. They grow dense block all the soil in layers. Iā€™ve never had a pest problem with them. They sun stress to a lovely chocolate wafer covered in mint icing look to them. Worth owning one.

      How long or often did you have yours in the sun to get that coloring? And do new leaves come in with that coloring or do you have to re sun stress it?
