I have a Hoya Genevieve and it keeps getting weird spots on the leaves. I thought it was just the old leaves but it’s happening on the shiny newer leaves as well. No bugs. No scale. What is it? Some sort of fungus? What should I do? This is one of my favorite Hoyas. 😞

Looks like burns. Mine do this when they get wet and too much direct light

It never gets wet though. And never direct sun.

Oh! She’s under a grow light for about 16 hours a day, at 1500 foot candles. Maybe too much? I better back that off. Maybe a bright corner is all she needs?

I would check out Unsolicited Plant Talks on YouTube. She has a wonderful video on this exact issue. It’s called “Why is my Hoya getting black spots”

Great resource for info on Hoyas at UPT. After you watch that video you won’t be worried anymore. It happens with some types of Hoya more than others.

Yeah, I have seven different Hoyas and this is the only one doing this. I’m not sure I’m going to keep it. I’m going to try to find someone who has more patience and tolerance for unattractive misbehaving plants. 🫣
