I’ve been having trouble with my Hoya for the past few months. For a while I was living in an apartment that didn’t get direct sunlight so I’m thinking that was what originally was causing the yellowing leaves and no blooms. Before I moved to my new apartment with full sun, I repotted them but I’ve noticed that some of the leaves are dropping off or turning yellow. It’s only been 3 weeks in the new place and I water every 10 days according to Planta. Could it be that my Hoya is still adjusting to all the changes? This plant has been in my family for longer than I’ve been alive so I want to do whatever I can to keep it going. I did take some clippings which are doing well just as a backup.

It will survive in full sun in early morning or late evening exposures when the sun’s rays are less intense. A plant with dark leaves can sunburn at high noon. The plant and soil dry out faster in full sun. Hoyas grow climbing up trees in their natural environment. They are protected from midday sun by the tree’s canopy. So, move the plant to a location with bright indirect light. I’m guessing it’s a hoya Carnosa variety. It’s hard to tell because the plant is very dry based on the wrinkled leaves plus wrinkled and dead stems/vines. I would remove all the dead vines (and roots) to clearly see what’s left. It’s hard to tell from the pictures. Move to a smaller pot if a significant number of roots are dead. Water after verifying the soil is dry. Don’t strictly use Planta’s watering notifications as the only indication to water. You can have watering issues if you strictly follow it. All environments and plants are different. There is no one watering schedule for a particular variety of plants. Be sure the soil is saturated, water runs freely out the drain holes. Then, let it completely drain. Fertilize every 2 weeks with 50 percent diluted liquid fertilizer in warm months. 🍀🪴

Thank you so much! So I should be letting the soil dry in between? The plant only gets morning sunlight now

This is my grandmas original plant when it was flowering if that will help identify it. She pretty much neglects it and it’s always gotten full sun but hers still flowers and mine hasn’t. I suspect I’ve been overwatering it and the lack of sunlight didn’t help.

Yes, let the soil dry out. Just ensure it’s fully soaked on watering day to get water to the center of the soil. Then, let it thoroughly drain.

Awesome. It just rained today so I’ll let it dry out before watering again and adjust the planta scheduling

I’m pretty sure that’s a Hoya Carnosa. The flowers match. It’s a little pale compared to the typical leaf color either from getting too much sun or it needed fertilizer.
