  3. Might be sentient

    Any tips for getting them to bloom? Recently got a Hoya pubicalyx. I have some experience with orchids and I’ve heard that orchid fertilizer works on Hoyas too, is this correct?

      The orchid fertilizer didn’t help mine. I had to move mine outside to get morning sun and bright shade after 11am. Only two little Lacunosas bloomed the first year while under my weak grow lights. Over a dozen bloomed when I put them into direct morning sunlight from sunrise to 11am. My fertilizer regiment is shown.

      My two Hoya Pubicalyx never bloomed and both are almost 5 years old! My Pink Silver did sun stress in morning sunlight. She just looks cute all summer. 😄

      I believe it is everyone Hoya's lovers to wish to have them flourish. However, in my own experience, it is only based on "waiting" till they are ready to do so. Some of them took 2–3 years before blooming. I have Hoya as old as 5 years old and never showed any attempt to flourish! A Hoya Bella is a pretty easy one to flourish without waiting that long, as well as Hoya Linearis and Hoya Sunrise. However, the ones that have waited that long, when they start, then be ready for full-on action!

    In terms of fertiliser then in the past I also used orchid fertiliser, I can’t really confirmed that it really worked or not to be honest. But in the last year or so I have been using something different, is this the right product to use and help to flourish your Hoyas, then once again I can’t really be sure, but I still believe it is a very good one. From Amazon, NurtureSystem No1. Power Grow Adaptive Nutrient Concentrate Houseplant food.
