What are these black dots on my rope Hoya? 😠I don’t see any movement, I can’t find bugs on the plant itself but clearly there is something! Challenge with this plant is all the nooks and crannies. Was thinking my next step might be a full soak in peppermint Castile soap and repot?
My guess is edema, but the white fluffy part makes me think mealies. Gestation is 7-10 days, so spray that plant every day for the whole duration with water and isopropyl alcohol

1 Like I didn’t take a picture but the rest of the plant looks healthy. Just this branch has whatever this is going on so I plucked it
1 Like Since you removed the sick part.. I would treat the rest as if it’s pests. Hit it with water spray like it’s in a monsoon.. then spray with diluted peroxide, rinse and hit with neem oil or similar. If you have anything to add to the soil… I can’t think of the name, the little granules, do that. Isolate and see what happens. I have done this with other Hoyas to get rid of mealies and have been successful. When my rope got them, it was too much for me so I had a funeral. Good luck
2 LikesThat helps save the rest of he is pant. Spray the rest of the plant with 99% alcohol. And yes, to naysayers you can use it straight. It will evaporate so no need to wash off. Treat about every four days for theee weeks. If it’s mealies it will killthem. When I say spray I mean every site, every nook and cranny, including those where the leaves meet the stem. By mealies could hide in there.
