My little baby Hoya Compacta from a 2inch potš„¹ I have heard that they like to be more root bound and usually sleep for the first year then creep the second year and leap the third year. Iām a bit nervous about pests due to her beautiful curly leaves. I currently use Neen oil spray and put her in a very well draining soil mixture. I intermittently mist with water and small amount of hydrogen peroxide. Any suggestions are welcome! šš» ā¤ļø
I do t know how old mine was when it leaped cause I donāt know how old it was, but leap it did. Four of. The five vines sprung out and one was long enough to hang over the edge of the pot.

Iām by no means a Hoya expert but after I started fertilizing Iāve seen growth on my compacta. I got it about a year ago and it was just a little ball when I got it. Itās about five inches long now and has two vines.

What do you fertilize with?

Iām also afraid of mine getting pests. So I keep her about 6ā - 8ā away from other plants & spray her down with water every few months. Iāve also found that mine is a very fast grower when she gets a lot of light. āļø

As an avid Hoya collector, from experience Iād advise against the misting. Even with the hydrogen peroxide, thatās just creating a moist environment for fungus gnats and other moisture loving critters to be attracted to. The neem oil is sufficient as a spray. Iād recommend replacing the hydrogen peroxide routine with diatomaceous earth. A dusting on the soil layer in between waterings has proven to be way more effective for me. Also my rope plant burst with grow and didnāt bloom until I started using fish tank water š¤Ŗ I think theyāre an extra hungry plant
