Constantly. Harriet, my heirloom outer variegated carnosa, which came to me as krimson Queen, but probably is Hoya carnosa variegata, has lots of white leaves. Krimson Queen is an official cultivar (now expired) that was specifically cultivated in the 60’s/70’s to get rid of the tendency to produce so many white leaves. At the time of the cultivar, multiple other cultivars of the outer variegated Carnosa were in circulation. The clones most of us have are not krimson queen but we commonly refer to them as such. The leaves last until the plant is stressed, or in my experience, around 3 to 4 years. Those are the first leaves to go when the plant dries out or needs to off a leaf for some other stress. Hope this helps.😊

Interesting history on this type of Hoya! I just got one this week, so I appreciate the info.
