Dear Hoya Hoarders, I am new to this group and posted a while back that I had become infatuated with Hoyas. I have been looking, but haven’t found anything yet; however, I just found out that my neighbor has a huge Hoya Kerry that lives at her mother-in-law‘s because it is so huge. She showed me a picture of it and I drooled over it. Today she showed up with two giant leaves that she pulled off so that I might root a new plant. But, I don’t know a thing about rooting Hoyas. HELP! Do I put the leaves in water and wait for roots to grow like a philodendron or do these root differently? Also, what kind of soil do you pies and if I am so lucky to get these leaves to root? Any advice would be kindly appreciated. TIA

When I enlarge the photo of the leaves there are some worrisome spots. Something to worry about? I’m just getting over an infestation of black spot and any spot makes me extremely nervous. Should I just preemptively spray it?Thanks for any input.🌺💚

These will root and stay as leaves but there no node that I can see so I doubt they will become a plant.

Darn! What does the node look like? Should I just toss these leaves?THX for answering.💔

You can. Or keep them. The node will be on the stem. So you need a cutting with a piece of stem

Plants that grow only from leaves: snake plants, Christmas cactus-types, Queen of the Night, zigzag cactus, Rick rack cactus, cactus in general, succulents, begonias, African violets, and many others.

I have Hoya Obovata propagating in a little container of water. I added SuperThrive plant vitamins to the water. I change the water once a week.

Thanks for the info, guys! I’m mulling everything over hoping I can get this all right, that is, if my sweet neighbor will volunteer a few more pieces of her Hoya plant??? I’ll have to wait and see.🎋🎋🎋
