Two Green Thumbs

I need some help ….. I’m trying to decide which of these two wish list Hoyas to buy ….. I can’t make up my mind!!! New Guinea Ghost vs. Gunung Gading. Which would you pick ????

Both are fairly easy to grow with very different aesthetic appeal. Depends On what you look at? a green veiny leaf with the ability to blush to fully sundress or a silvery green leaf. I think NGG would probably give you more leaves in a shorter amount of time.

I have the NGG! I love it! It’s still very small. The pink blush makes my heart flutter. So, I’m in the mood for the Gunung Gading. It’s been on my wishlist for a while.

I wish! 😂 Mine are 2 small plants. I hope mine lives long enough to get this big and beautiful!

This is totally based on my experience. I’m sure there are others who’ve had better experiences. I purchased both as cuttings. They both took a while to get growing. Since then I haven’t had any problems with my gunung gading. However my ngg has dropped its new growth twice. The new growth it hasn’t dropped is very skinny and disappointing. I want to be able to grow both to look similar to the inspiration pics I’ve seen but after having them a while I’m much more confident in my gunung gading. I’m not giving up. I just haven’t gotten the care down for the ngg. But in my opinion theyare both equally beautiful and hard to even compare because they are so different esthetically. Side note if anyone has any care tips for the ngg I’d welcome them. 🙏🏽

i dropped a new leaf on my hoya ngg, but learnt my lesson! i have mine in leca, and it tends to be on the thirstier side (i’m guessing due to the thin leaves). i lean towards under watering most of my hoya, so it’s been an adjustment but seems to be working out!

Thank you. I was starting to think that maybe they don’t like to fry out like other Hoyas thanks for confirming. I’ll make the adjustments asap!

They definitely like to be watered more frequently than other Hoya. Watch the leaves. They show when they need water.

NGG is the easier of the two if that makes a difference to you.

Both of them, and then add on a few extras to really make it worth it 😜

They’re both gorgeous. My GG is easier than my NGG because it’s not as thirsty.

I ordered a NGG!!! :). The Planta app also kinda scared me away from the gunung gading because it said none of my locations was suitable. 🤷🏼‍♀️
