Hoya Sumatra Hey all New here as this plant is new to me. I am going through some of the pictures on this site but difficult to figure out. Sorry. I have a leaf with the stem in prop box with spaghnum moss neither the plant or the clipping seems to be doing anything and not sure what to do.

They are semi succulents, they have good level of drought tolerance and are tropical and like high humidity so you should mist it. So it could either be a slow grower or it is a rootless cutting. If it is a rootless cutting then keep the growing medium moist but not wet to encourage root and misting also increase the success rate of the rooting. Also you can give it a little tug to see if it has roots, if you feel resistance it is rooted, if not it has no roots.

Yes the plant has roots. The cutting I think all along the stem it has roots this is why I planted it flat in spaghnum? Moss. Or should it be in water. Just not sure to be patient or not as I am unsure if the stems look the way they are supposed to or something I need to change. Thank you for your reply

With some plants you should be patient and during winter they don’t really grow at all.

It takes them a long while. Like a month. Even in water I've had a few clippings in water prop and for over a month and their roots are only 1/2" on most of them. I feel like they do better in moss or perlite. I just had room in the water prop station at the time.
