Ott’s exotic plants has some gorgeous Hoya australis Lisa plants and I almost got one today. I only have a tiny Hoya pubicalyx and am not experienced with Hoyas. Since Hoyas are climbers would I need a trellis for it to climb on? Could I treat it more like a hanging plant and let the branches dangle? I don’t want to get a plant if I can’t provide the appropriate environment for it.
You can definitely treat it like a hanging plant! I have both in my collection. You may have to deal with the vines though, which a lot of people don’t like so I think that’s why they trellis them. It’s also sometimes fun to have both. In the pot of the same plant, I’ll trellis some of it and then let some hang down

좋아요 1개 Oh thank you! I need to update like all of the pictures. Most of them were taken over a year ago lol. The peperomia was a rescue! I love it because it grows so quickly plus I’m a sucker for round leaves.

I noticed you had your ficus Schiveriana, and a bunch of Hoyas outside. I didn’t realize those plants would do well there. May I ask where Bloomington is located? I am in Portland, Oregon, and our nights are still in the low 50s. How about you? What are your parameters for putting your plants outside? TIA!
좋아요 1개 I’m in Bloomington, Indiana! Zone 6 (idk if I’m a or b anymore). I put my plants out as long as the lows are consistently above 50. My cacti and succulents can tolerate a little bit colder, so I put those out first when the nights are high 40s. You have to remember that plants want to be outside and will grow the best in the sun! Even outside in the shade provides more sunlight than in my south facing window. My plants typically stay out from Mother’s Day through mid October. Hope that helps
