So I had this hoya from 2001 and it finally died on me this past year. I originally was plant-sitting then my friend gifted it to me. It also originally was 6-8” in diameter and full of life. It lived thru many moves and finally had enough. It slowly started dying off and I did my best to save her. This tiny 4” pot was the last straw and she fought hard, but didn’t make it. I have mourned enough with my friend’s plant and ready to replace her. I see there are so many options here! 💕
Aw 💚 I’d say you gave that Hoya a long and healthy life.

I find it’s not so much the plant but the environment and additives. My first year owning hoyas was 2023. I didn’t kill off most of them. But, several died the first year from overwatering, fungal infection (it arrived with it), under watering and too many experiments with plant additives and hoya soil mixtures. Most indoor plants suffered from too low light because the grow lights were too weak or too far away from the plants. I moved the large hoyas outside last spring to get full morning sun touching their leaves. This set off fast growth and first blooms on about 15 hoyas! Yes, some plants were involuntarily sacrificed so I can be a better plant owner. I have few regrets. The remaining plants are better for it. 😁
